Books

When I first started writing books, I was thirteen with no idea what I was doing. Now, in my early twenties, I have a little more idea what I’m doing, and I’ve learned that while some stories are ones you grow out of, others can grow with you. The Legends of Matt Baker, which I wrote and self-published at fourteen, was a fantastic learning experience that I soon grew out of, but The Wovenstone Trilogy is something else entirely. Over the past seven years, I have written draft after draft of these three books, most recently finishing my fourth complete rewrite of Book One, Destiny’s Alliance, in the summer of 2025. With the help of volunteer editors and mentorship from professors, I hope to send Book One’s polished final draft out to agents in the summer of 2027, with hopes of finally sharing this story that has meant so much to me with the rest of the world.

Gavin Stork’s father is more private than one would expect for a gluck farmer. Gavin knows better than to ask about what keeps them in the village of Tippinstoop, just like he knows better than to ask about the mysterious contents of his mother’s old trunk hidden in the cellar. But when he discovers an unusual visitor seeking refuge in the nameless ruins on the edge of the woods, Gavin is forced to come to terms with his mother’s hidden loyalties and decide whether or not to take them on as his own.

The Legends of Matt Baker

Dragons. Pirates. Magic users from distant lands. The world of Ildathore has them all. As for young handyman Matt Baker, he’d give the possibility of any of them for a real, actual job. But when an interview mix-up occurs at Franklin, Franklin, & Smith (Enterprise of Unusual and Extraordinary Events), Matt is thrown into a series of adventures beyond his wildest dreams. Spanning from teenager to grandfather, this collection of seven short stories follows the unlikely life of Matt Baker, exploring which moments in life truly decide who a person becomes.

Full disclosure: I wrote this book when I was 15. So, it’s no masterpiece (unless you ask my parents or a few loyal friends), but it did cement my love for writing stories!
